About Us

The property for Strong Rock was purchased in 1999. Construction began in the spring of 2002 with the clearing of just over 40 acres to install roads, playing fields, two lakes, horse pasture, and building sites. 2003 saw the lakes finished and the end to major grading as well as the start of the first building, the barn. In 2004 the building construction reached its peak, with 5 cabins, the gym, and the lodge underway. Winter and spring of 2005 will see the completion of the final 3 cabins and activity areas in preparation for open house in April.

Strong Rock operates as a children’s summer camp from late May to early August. The rest of the year the facility is available for the use of groups and organizations. Strong Rock is owned and operated by James and Corie Himstedt and Larry and Norma Adams. Both families have a desire to provide lasting experiences for families, groups and organizations that come to visit. The leadership feels called to this mission and is extremely blessed to see years of dreaming and planning come to life.
